Last night, after a work-related event which I attended with my whole family, as it was too late to cook a meal when we got back home, we bought souvlaki.
They also come vegetarian these days - in fact, you can get almost anything as a filling. (And if you want a vegan souvlaki, you simply ask to have a nistisomo, ie without meat or dairy.
You may be wondering about what kind of event held in a Greek town a whole family with children could attend during a school night, which goes on till late (we left at 9pm) that doesn't include food! This will be revealed in a later post.
But for now, enjoy these night shots of Hania, which I managed to take when we went out for a mid-week walk through the harbour on a wet cold night when the street were deserted, all taken by Venetian port behind the marina.
And something to remind us of the season:
The event took place at the ΚΕΠΠΕΔΗΧ-ΚΑΜ - Centre of Mediterranean Architecture, which you can learn more about here.

What sort of sauce comes on the non-dairy one?
ReplyDeletegood question: i can only think of tomato sauce (ketchup)
Deletemost places int he town offer almost anything you can think, so there must be vegan alternatives too
not sure if they do shrimp sticks though - i wouldnt be surprised if they did an asian souvlaki taste one day since most asian sauces (eg hot chill or seet chili sauce) are now cheaply and widely available
I make them myself when I want vegan and make a tahini sauce; tahini, lemon juice, hot water, garlic and pepper and that tastes delicious.
DeleteTahini sauce i what I would do, makes sense! It's great with falafel - is that an option yet?
