Easter 2010 (Πάσχα 2010)

Greek Christian as well as Russian (Eastern) Orthodox Easter does not always coincide with the Easter date for the Western Christian churches because they are based on different calendar systems. But today, for those who celebrate Easter in their culture, I can truly wish everyone a Happy Easter, because this year it falls on the same day, which usually occurs once every three years - but not necessarily: next year, we will once again all celebrate it together, but between 2017 and 2024, there will be no simultaneous celebrations...

This photograph represents one of the 25 Easter Sundays I lived through in New Zealand, a day always spent with the extended family, and always celebrated in my own family's home. The food was (just about) the same as what we cook and eat in my own Greek home on this day; the plates in any case are the same, since I inherited them all after my parents' passing.
